Small Business Disputes
Many business disputes begin with people who once shared the same goals. Business associates often start with a common vision, only to find themselves in disagreement later regarding finances, management, responsibilities, ownership interests, or the future direction of the business.
For many years, I have represented small business owners in a wide variety of disputes throughout California, including:
- Partners and co-owners
- Vendors
- Contracts and business agreements
- Business ownership and management issues
- ADA Matters
Business disputes can be particularly challenging because they often involve more than legal issues. The dispute may affect a person’s livelihood, employees, customers, business relationships, and future plans.
Decisions that make sense in a courtroom do not always make sense in the real world. While litigation is sometimes necessary, every dispute should be evaluated in light of the client’s objectives, the costs involved, the available alternatives, and the practical realities of the situation.
Every dispute is different. Some matters can be resolved through negotiation or mediation. Others require litigation. Determining the appropriate course of action depends on the facts of the case, the objectives of the parties involved, and the practical realities of the situation.
The goal is to identify the course of action that best serves the client’s interests.
